A New Horizon
As human beings on a journey of becoming we all see this life we have been gifted with in different ways.
Some of us see life’s journey as a series of beginnings and endings, while others of us experience a collection of moments - some we can control and others we can’t. Some of us may see ourselves as passengers on a smooth ride or perhaps our ride is twisting and turning, filled with mountain top vistas, challenging valleys, roadblocks and pitstops as we travel from destination to destination. My message to our most senior students is a message relevant to us all no matter our age.
Continue to seek the Horizon but don’t forget the beauty of what you may find as you scan the road you are travelling.
These are the moments of reflection, experience and possibly redirection that bring about new horizons or resolve.
Whilst farewelling our most senior students we have commenced connections with our 2023 Prep students and families. Part of their introduction to The Lakes College was to hear words of wisdom from our current Preps. I would like to share with you these words of encouragement, shared with our incoming 2023 Prep parents and carers, they speak as much to our new students as they do to a graduating class. I would like to thank Mr Pearce, Hudson (Prep student) and Ivy (Prep student) for their insights that were shared with our graduating class:
- “Graduates have BIG feelings, big feelings when commencing and big feelings when they end something and that is okay.” Mr Pearce
- In talking about new beginnings Hudson offers his encouragement, “It’s okay and there’s nothing to worry about. You can be a little bit afraid. There are always people who can help.”
- And I hope Ivy’s words instill excitement, “You get to learn new things and you get to write your own stories”
I hope across this 2022 school year, your young person has been able to write their own story. That their journey no matter whether smooth or challenging has been one of learning and growth.
From The Lakes College Board, Executive and Staff, thank you for your commitment to our College.
To those families and staff who are relocating we wish you all the very best as you settle into new spaces and places.
We pray for a time of refresh and reconnection over this Christmas Season, wishing you and your family every blessing and we look forward to seeing you in 2023.
Grace and Peace.
